DEKTON Countertops

What is Dekton?

Dekton is a man made material created by blending  raw materials used to produce the most innovations in glass and porcelain as well as the highest quality quartz work surfaces.

A newer technology called Sinterized Particle Technology (SPT) is used to create Dekton slabs. SPT allows to create an accelerated version of the metamorphic change that natural stones like granite and marble undergo when subjected to high temperatures and pressure over thousands of years. This is truly an innovative procedure, a technological and industrial leap, that allows for generating a new process to create a revolutionary and leading material. Dekton slabs created through this process can be used for countertops, flooring, walls and more.

Advantages of Dekton

Dekton is a fantastic material for countertops and flooring. Below are the main advantages of using this material :

Large Size Slabs

Dekton is a lighter material which allows for larger slab to be created as big as 126 ” by 56″. The larger slabs open up the possibilities for new kitchen and bathroom designs as well as a flooring applications with high foot traffic.

UV Resistant

Dekton is highly resistant to Ultra Violet (UV) light. It will not fade nor degrade over time making it the perfect material for indoor and outdoor applications such as countertops of an exterior kitchen.

Scratch Resistant

Dekton is the most scratch resistant surface on the market, more than granite and quartz.

Stain Proof

Dekton is the only countertop material that is stain proof. While most materials for countertops are stain resistant, Dekton is completely stain proof. Even the most stubborn stains like wine and coffee can easily be removed from Dekton surfaces. Dekton has extremely low porosity and contains no resin, hence making this material chemical resistant. Drips or splashes of common household chemicals like bleach, drain cleaners or oven degreasers won’t harm Dekton making this material a great fit for kitchen countertops.

High heat and fire resistant

Dekton does not contain resin like quartz and can withstand high temperatures without burning, scorching or cracking. Hot pots like crock pots can be placed directly on the surface with no worry of damage.

Abrasion Resistant

Dekton is more resistant to abrasion than granite making it the ideal surface for commercial application and high-use surface like kitchen countertops. While other surfaces show wear overtime, Dekton’s finish will last for the life of the product and never needs to be resurfaced or refinished.

Thermal Shock Resistant

Dekton’s low coefficient of thermal expansion makes it thermal shock proof from both extreme heat and extreme cold.

Dekton comes in three different thicknesses depending on the desire application, from 8 to 30 mm.

High mechanical resistance

With over 5 times the flexural strength of granite, Dekton can be installed using a thinner material over greater spans allow for up to a 12-inch unsupported overhand on countertops, island and bartops.

Non-Porous

Dekton is non porous and never needs to be sealed. It naturally prevents liquids and gasses from penetrating the surface making it a low maintenance surface that is easier to clean.

Color Stability

The manufacturing process used to make Dekton surfaces allows for high control of the pigmentation and decoration of the material. In turn, this yields better color consistency from slab to slab and result in long lasting surfaces that will not fade over time. Dekton countertops will maintain the same new appearance for its entire life.
